法性

法性
(sa) dharmatā. Dharma-nature, the nature underlying all thing, the (sa) bhūtatathatā, a Mahāyāna philosophical concept unknown in Hīnayāna, v. [lang id =1028]真如 and its various definitions in the [lang id =1028]法相, [lang id =1028]三論 (or[lang id =1028]法性), [lang id =1028]華嚴, and [lang id =1028]天台 Schools. It is discussed both in its absolute and relative senses, or static and dynamic. In the <Mahāparinirvāṇa sūtra> and various śāstras the term has numerous alternative forms, which may be taken as definitions, i. e. [lang id =1028]法定 inherent dharma, or Buddha-nature; [lang id =1028]法住 abiding dharma-nature; [lang id =1028]法界 (sa) dharmakṣetra, realm of dharma; [lang id =1028]法身 (sa) dharmakāya, embodiment of dharma; [lang id =1028]實際 region of reality; [lang id =1028]實相 reality; [lang id =1028]空性 nature of the Void, i. e. immaterial nature; [lang id =1028]佛性 Buddha-nature; [lang id =1028]無相 appearance of nothingness, or immateriality; [lang id =1028]真如 (sa) bhūtatathatā; [lang id =1028]如來藏 (sa) tathāgatagarbha; [lang id =1028]平等性 universal nature; [lang id =1028]離生性 immortal nature; [lang id =1028]無我性 impersonal nature; [lang id =1028]虛定界: realm of abstraction; [lang id =1028]不虛妄性 nature of no illusion; [lang id =1028]不變異性 immutable nature; [lang id =1028]不思議界 realm beyond thought; [lang id =1028]自性清淨心 mind of absolute purity, or unsulliedness, etc. Of these the terms [lang id =1028]真如, [lang id =1028]法性, and [lang id =1028]實際 are most used by the <Prajñāpāramitā sūtra>s.

指諸法的真實體性, 亦即宇宙間一切現象所具有真實不變的本性。 此又作真如法性, 亦為真如的異稱。 法性是萬法的本質, 《大智度論》卷三十二, 以一切法的總相、 別相同歸於法性, 謂諸法有各自的差別相、 與實相。 所謂各自差別相, 例如冰溶為水, 頓失以前之相, 以其為不固定者, 故分別求之而不可得;不可得故空(無自性), 即說空為諸法之實相。 對一切差別相而言, 因其自性是空, 故皆為同一, 稱之為(如)。 一切相同歸於空, 故稱空為法性。 又如黃石之中具有金之性質, 一切世間法中皆具涅槃之法性, 故說此諸法本然之實性為法性, 此與《圓覺經》所謂‘眾生、 國土同一法性’同義’。 見《大品般若經》卷二十一、 《成唯識論》卷二。

諸法的本性。 這種諸法的本性, 在有情方面, 叫做佛性, 在無情方面, 即叫做法性。 法性也就是實相、 真如、 法界、 涅槃的別名。
